Would like to enquire if there is a limitation on the number of concurrent SMTP sessions?
Situation:
Currently, we are deployed Postini as the anti-spam solution and Postini pool of servers keep connecting and dropping connections to our smtp gateway servers which are in a cluster.
However, both Postini Alert Notification seems to be detecting the smtp gateway servers to be unavailable multiple times per day. Analysis indicate that the gateway servers were available during the period whereby Postini flagged as unavailable.
Logs indicate a sudden flood of inbound connections from Postini pool of servers without any message delivered (connect and disconnect within 1-2 seconds with no message delivered) during these “supposedly flagged as gateway servers not available” period.
The alerts always happen during a flood of non-delivery connections from Postini pool of servers. Thus, prompt me to think if there is a limitation in number of concurrent smtp sessions per Domino server.
