Have taken a look through this forum and cannot find a definitive answer - can someone advise if it is or is not possible to run concurrent agents in the same database on the same server?

No and yes. No you cannot run scheduled agents concurrently (without a work-around), but yes agents can run concurrently (web agents if the server is correctly configured, and anything you run by using ‘tell amgr run …’)
The work-around for scheduled agents is to have one agent send console commands to run the others via tell amgr run.
