I can not understand very well LWM approach. The fact is that iNotes scales very well (remenber SCT), and LWM seems to be “another iNotes version” with a different architecture…
My major concern is about the implication of this on Domino. I do not understand (yet), how Domino is implied on this technology (everything is based on Was, although on the architecture graphis Domino & was are mixed, I see no relation!)
I known that one of the arguments of LWM is that is positionated to very “basic” users, but I have no doubt that future releases will add more funtionality, triying to reach the actual funtionality of iNotes…
So… is LWM the future of Notes ? There wil be a rich client also for LWM (something similiar to Notes but for accesing LWM) ? Could please some one from Lotus clarify the Workplace strategy ? How does Notes fills on that strategy ? How Domino ?
Please, we REALLY need a clear statement about the roadmap of the Notes client ! Is the Notes client the “rich client” that will came up with this strategy or there is another one ?
Subject: Thks. I got one very valuable and now, feel excited about future…
Thks, I read this article http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,4149,1309150,00.asp and I feel more comfortable about this new strategy. It seems to be very reasonable and good for us. Can not wait until Lotusphere to have further details on it…
Please, Lotus, give us IN DEPTH info about this on LotusSphere (I would appreciate any other link as the previous one, too).
Subject: Concerns about LWM vs Domino iNotes Web Access
Far be it for me to me an IBM “apologist” but I reall don’t know how much clearer Lotus and IBM can be about all this.
If you won’t take / haven’t taken the time to digest the various white papers, virtual tours, discussions, weblog postings, and other sundry PDFs, then I don’t know what else to suggest.
Subject: That´s the problem. I read EVERYTHING and there is nothing clear
I download tours, demos, whitepapers, everything I found that was added about this new strategy… And the problem is that screenshoot are really nice, but there is NOWHERE a clear statment about Domino / Notes being used on Lotus Workplace. Seems every component will be replaced on a near future by a Websphere version. I known that, for instance, sametime & quickplace will remain on Domino, but I am particularly worried about LWM recplacing iNotes Web Access, and in conclusion, Notes being replaced by another rich client. I would want a clarification of the roadmap, I can not afford to have so significant doubts on the investment of my installation.
