Complete Noob question

Hi,

A few users have just migrated to Lotus Notes at the Company I work at.

Basically I have to now support it (never used it)

A user is having problems getting his email. He only gets them when he hits send/receive email, they dont automatically come through…the strange thing is though that this was working yesterday…

Can anyone help me with some troubleshooting tips please?

Thanks

Dave

It sounds like your user is using the local replica with scheduled replication disabled. Quick check - open the users mail file and in the bottom left hand corner it will either say ‘Local’ or ‘On NotesServerName’. Local is the local replica.

To fix this go to the replication page and enable scheduled replication (automatic send and receive) or open the server replica of the mail file (right click on the mail icon in the top left hand corner of the screen - Open Replica - NotesServerName).

The quick way to make unread documents read, and vice versa is to press the Insert button.

Forgot to mention, all his emails in the folders have changed to unread?

Whats the quick way to mark them as read?

Subject: RE: Complete Noob question

To automtaically fetch the new mails, go to user preferences in Notes Client → Preferences → user preferences → mail → general. Set the time interval for checking mail, and other related fields.

Also ensure that user is having a Location document with correct details about mail server, address lookup etc.

Is the user using a local replica of mail box? If so check Database Properties → Advanced Tab (Last Tab) → Unread marks replication options.
