@Command([PressButton])?

Hi,I need to perform the following actions, from an email button, preferably using @Commands, or Formula, as I have had many many problems with my LS for this, and have given up with it…

Basically, we want to:

  1. Send the users an email with a button in it;

  2. On pressing the button, a file which is also on the email is downloaded to C:\Program Files\Lotus\Notes\Data

  3. Then, we need to open this database

  4. Here comes the tricky part. I’d ideally then like to automatically press the ‘Test Setup’ button that appears. This test setup button contains very good, working code, that is able to do many things, including set environment variables exactly how we require. It was written by someone with a much better understanding of script than I.

  5. Then, just want to close the database following the user pressing OK to the prompt that appears…

I’d like to avoid further modification to the database ideally (I don’t really want to create an agent for example), just need to somehow automatically press the button for the user!

I also can’t move the code into the email button (for various reasons, partly as I think the problems I am having with the LS button are based on the fact we are trying to run it in the users mailfile and I beleive there may be ECL/Access issues of some kind, preventing the code from running, wheras I know it works in the database…

So far the code in the button is quite basic:

@Command( [EditDetach];“Siebel7Email.nsf”;“C:/Program Files/Lotus/Notes/data/Siebel7Email.nsf”);

@Command([FileOpenDatabase]; “”:“Siebel7Email.NSF”; “”; “”; “”; “1” )

(then it needs to @Command([PressButton];“TestSetup”);

@Command([FileCloseWindow])

I’m assuming the database opens the About Document? There’s no way that I know of to press the button automatically but you do have a few options but it will require some modification to the database.

  1. Take the code from the button and move it to the PostOpen Event of the database

  2. Create a Form in the database and add the code to the Form’s PostOpen Event. Create a single document in the database and save it. Now copy the doc as a doclink. Now open the About Database doc and paste the doclink at the top. On your db launch properties select Launch First Doclink in “About Database”

Thanks guys.

The database opens a specific ‘page’ rather than a form or the about database document.

I’m sure either of your options would have worked fine, but because of my keeness not to modify the database any further, I decided to write a cmd file that pretty much does what we require…

In a way, either of your solutions are better than this, as they would force the whole code to run when the database opens, but…in this particular instance/database, I am really keen not to modify any more than neccessary, otherwise I am worried the vendor may not support the functionality we are using…

Thanks a lot anyway, always appreciate the answers on here.

How about just putting the code in the PostOpen event of the form, and then saving the form with the document?
