COM/OLE Handle to WordPad?

This might be a bit off topic, but does anyone know if there’s a COM interface to WordPad? (and what is it?)

An alternate solution would be to find a way for MS Word to strip out (find and replace) certain HTML tags before converting the document.

Well, I haven’t tried it, but according to the registry You should be able to invoke Wordpad through:

Dim wp As Variant

Set wp = CreateObject(“Wordpad.Document”)

Next question is how You are going to use this since the object browser doesn’t reveal any useful methods or objects that is presented to the COM-interface (or at least as far as I can see at a first glance)…

Heck, I didn’t even know how to use the Object Browser to find “Wordpad.Document”, so I have no idea how to use it. I’m hoping to figure out how to do a Find-Replace on HTML code (unless you know a better way).

I would use MS Word instead of wordpad to do this since Word has built in functions that can be used for just this purpose; to search and replace text. This function is available through the COM-interface and You actually don’t need the word-document to be visible to the user - it can be all done in the background.

Do You need help with that, or?

p.s. I cheated a bit… I didn’t use the object browser in the Designer; I used the object browser of Visual Basic/Studio. Gives much better view of all methods and properties…

The problem with using MS Word is that I want to change the HTML code (not displayed text), and I must change it before it gets into Word (the reason being that Word crashes trying to convert the text).

Ah… Then, unfortunately, You are left with the only option to “manually” go through the code with LotusScript and create a new revised HTML code.

Subject: Sure, List Fields can access it and save it to file - even without OLE server available

List Fields has some powerful OLE object handling features. For example can the OLE object be saved to file - even without the OLE server (ie. the application that once made the OLE object) installed. See the following screenshot:
