Column formula

This is for a small Notes Client application.

My intent is to view different fields on different lines within the cell. I wrote a column formula as follows :

"Job Title: "+ title_position +@NewLine+ "Dept: "+ department +@NewLine+ "Ph: " + phone +@NewLine+"E-mail Address: "+ email

Also In the View Properties box: I changed the Lines per row to the number of carriage returns I wanted to include in the row (3) and selected Shrink rows to content. Then in the Column Properties box: I chose New Line as the Multi-value separator.

When I view the entry in the column row it does not have the carriage return. I expanded the row size and the content would re-size/ fit themselves in a single line without any carriage return.

What am I doing wrong here ?

You have created a string with new lines in it, rather than a multivalue item that is separated by new lines.Try "Job title: " + title_position : "Dept: " + department : "Ph: " + phone : "Email: " + email instead.

This is a multivalue item and should work.

@NewLine does not work in column formulas.

You could put a hidden computed field on your form with the formula

"Job Title: "+ title_position +@NewLine+ "Dept: "+ department +@NewLine+ "Ph: " + phone +@NewLine+"E-mail Address: "+ email

and then set the column to this fields name.

Thanks Matt …

The designer help guide did not specify the @NewLine won’t work on column formulas … or maybe i missed the point …
