Any signs that a flavor of D6 will support Domino level clustering using the same shared disk space for the data directory ?
This would be ideal…
In our current clustering setup, the cluster replicator doesn’t seem to keep up in a very timely manner for all of our mail files…
It would be nice to have an active-active clustering setup without using MSCS.

Are you asking for a single data directory accessed by more than 1 server? If so then the answer is definitely no. This would be completely in opposition to the Domino architecture.
On the other hand, if you’re asking for multiple data directories on a single shared disk … are you saying we don’t support that?

Suggestion: load multiple cluster replicators. In busy mail environments, I’ve seen this create dramatic improvements in cluster performance.

And in fact, over the weekend I did increment the cluster replicators, so we’ll see how that goes… in the mean time, we’ll be doing additional research on various potential active-active and active-passive cluster setups. But keeping in sync as timely as possible is definitely a key

Well, for general reference, you’ll probably never see a version of Domino that allows clustering on a shared storage model. One of the key objectives of the cluster model in Domino is a “zero shared resources” concept, so that there’s no single point of failure. We can argue the merits of this strategy all day, I’m sure, but I don’t think it’ll change anytime soon.
Hopefully you’ll see some improvement with multiple cluster replicators. In a recent project with a pair of iSeries boxes running in a cluster for 2300 large mail databases, we had to run 3 replicators to keep up. Once we had this many, we stopped getting user complaints about out of date information altogether.

And then use a long-time period scheduled replication between each cluster mate in both directions. So that directory replica’s initialise properly.

Doin’ that as well (scheduled reps)…Users seem to complain about a number of things,
unread marks matching between replica copies,
as well as deletions not propagating in a timely fashion (with db rep settings ok).
