Cluster Replicator Task - Creating more instances

We currently have one instance of cluster replicator running. From time to time “the bucket” gets overloaded and I have to manually start a 2nd instance. I’d like to permanantly add a new instance to both servers in our cluster…What is the best way to approach this? Add it to the Notes.ini file? If so, what is the command line to add?? OR can I add this to the configuration document of each server?

you can do it several ways and I don’t think there is any real “better” way to do it.

  1. clrepl,clrepl,clrepl (loads 3 cluster replicators on startup)

  2. set config Cluster_Replicators=3 (same as above)

  3. add Cluster_Replicators to Notes.ini tab in config doc

So if I wanted to add 2 instances I can simply go to the notes ini file, scroll to the bottom and enter:

clrepl,clrepl

OR would I add:

clrepl

clrepl

OR do I add

set config Cluster_Replicators=2

Sorry to make this more difficult than what it is. I am very new to the Domino environment.

in notes.ini you would do either of these:

Cluster_Replicators=2 or…

Find the line ServerTasks=, locate the existing clrepl on the line then add another instance after that one.

…,clrepl,clrepl,…

Some additional comments:

  1. clrepl,clrepl,clrepl (loads 3 cluster replicators on startup) - this method forces you to add the replicators every time you restart the domino server (since one is started by default per the ini, adding 3 would give you a total of 4)

  2. set config Cluster_Replicators=3 (same as above) - my favorite method because it allows you to more easily keep track of what is in your different notes.inis via a Domino Directory view

  3. add Cluster_Replicators to Notes.ini tab in config doc

thx for correcting me Jeff. Actually I meant to say that you add 3 clrepl to the ini so that 3 load on startup.
