we have a domino cluster where nodes are in 3 different locations, people’s home servers are set based on location they phisically located so user1 has domino1 as home server, user2 has domino2 as home server and user3 has domino3 as home server, all 3 server are nodes of same cluster. Any time one of nodes is rebooted users are failing over to another node, this is good but there is no automatic failover to their home server once node is brought online. even if they close and reopen Notes client they are redirected to last open mail file which is on server in another location.
is there way to makes it work so they are automatically redirected to home server if availiable?
There are a few published technotes that talk about this. Go to the Lotus Developer Domain: IBM Developer and search on failover and home server. This seems to be a common enhancement request by many customers. Here is the technote. It appears that the option is still not available:
Can users automatically fail back to the primary home mail server when the server becomes available?

Problem
In Lotus Domino, you have a clustered environment with a primary home mail server and a backup failover server. When the primary server is unavailable, users failover successfully to the backup clustered server.
When the primary server becomes available, you would like users to automatically fail back to the primary home mail server. Is this possible?
An enhancement request for this new functionality has been submitted to Quality Engineering as SPR# WHER6PFTA2.
