A user has been having these 2 issues for a while at her NOtes Client :
Every time opening a mail from Inbox, a new mail window tab would open. The user wasn’t
aware that the opend mail tabs were to be closed before exiting Notes, thus keep
opening more & more mail tabs, until the last total mail window tabs i saw was more than 100; and this seemed to have some performance effect when opening any mail with embedded image size of around 1MB.
i’ve tried to close each of the mail window tab 1 after another, at times waited for Notes to refresh itself before i could continue closing down the next mail window tabs; then exit Notes after all opened mail window tabs were closed.
Tried to locate the menu function in Notes 8, similar that of ‘Clear Saved Window State’ as in Notes 7 , but unfortunately this menu is no more available.
Where can we find the function in Notes 8, to ensure that closed mail tabs would not appear again during next logon ?
All HTML images in all old & new mails somehow become just the red ‘X’, unable to be viewed even when the ‘X’ were clicked on. i’ve checked settings under Location, but the existing settings seem OK.
Any ideas/ thoughts are greatly appreciated.

To close all the open tabs use : File - Close all menu options.

To answer your first question, in the Notes 8.0.x code stream the close all tabs function is under File → Preferences → Windows and Themes. Uncheck the box next to “On restart, reopen any tabs that were open when I closed the client.”

First, make sure the ‘Person Document → Format Preferences for Incoming Mail’ is set to "Set this to “Keep in sender’s format”. Then, have a look at this TechNote:

… i’ve actually gone thru b4 posting this issue here.
Also have gone thru another tech note :
“Notes client does not render an attachment for users with ‘No Preference’or’Keep in Sender’s Format’ as mail storage preference”
which suggests ‘copying the message with a Notes 6.x client into a local copy of a mail file based on a 6.x design may result in the attachment becoming accessible …’
But what if above also fail; are there any other settings i can chk, and workarounds ?
