We are upgrading to 9.0 soon and I’d like the Discover page to open initially, but then allow users to close it permanently when they choose to. I’ve read some posts here about the Discover page… so it is really true that there’s no way to do this? If the page is closed, it reappears when Notes is restarted.

Subject: Inconsistent results
Thanks for the response, but I’m getting inconsistent results with this setting. It seems that the “Home” page gets set to the “Discover” page. (Clicking Home from the Open List opens Discover instead of the Home page from Bookmark.nsf.) On one PC (with the Client/Admin/Designer), I was able to open Bookmark.nsf, bookmark it, and then select to set it as the Home Page. But, this morning, it starting opening the Discover page again. On another PC with the standard Client, I select to set Bookmark.nsf as the Home Page, but the setting doesn’t take affect at all.
I think I will accept this as a bug and hope that no user really wants to stop the Discover page from opening!

Thanks… as you noted, that wasn’t exactly what I am needing, but I did try those options and they don’t appear to work. Based on other posts here, others have had the same experience - that the Discover page shows regardless of whether Don’t Show is checked or not.
Subject: tested and does work… try this
A few things to check:
make sure that ‘Don’t set value’ is un-checked for the Discover page option.
policy settings are processed at certain times by default … run the following server console command to have them processed immediately:
tell adminp process new
in the Notes client, close the Discover page and then close any open clients (Notes, Admin, Designer)
restart Notes.
authenticate with home/mail server (Ctrl - F5 or just open the on-server Mail file)
restart Notes again
That should do it
Subject: New Desktop Settings options
There are new Home page and Discover page options on the the Basics tab of the Desktop settings document Administrators can use to control the Home and Discover page behavior for Notes client users…
Under “Discover Page Options” section, you can check the “Do not show” option (as long as “Discover” wasn’t selected for the Homepage option section above it).
This would cause the Discover page to not be shown at all, so it may not exactly meet your needs.
