Client Installation for xSP Hosted Organization

I have Domino setup in xSP mode and I have registered users for an organization.When I try and setup the client I get the message “User or server name not found in Domino Directory”. Other post in the forum suggest you do the install manually.

However, when I do not choose to connect to a domino server all I get is the stand alone client. I am not ever prompted for the location of the user id.

Strangely, I have another pc that had a Notes Client already installed on it that was connected to another server. I uninstalled it and reinstalled (without cleaning up any old files). When I configured the client it prompted me for the location of the user.id. I pointed to new id in drive a: and it worked.

I have tried to copy the new id file to the data directory before I run the Client the first time. It prompts to overwrite it.

Any ideas on how to force the client configuration to use a supplied user.id since the xSP client install is bad?

On a test machine I completely removed Lotus Client and reinstalled. When running the client for the first time, I used my name (administrator of the server). It prompts me and tells me it cannot find the id file and asks me to located it. I browse to the floppy drive and choose the other users id and it works. ( I guess since the user id of the administrator is not stored in the directory???)
