Client ignores server archive policy

I have a user with a Notes client that is ignoring the server archive policy. The user has two systems – a desktop and a laptop. The desktop HAS the server archive policy applied. The laptop does not. I cannot figure out why. I’ve done a clean install to move the user from 6.5.4 to 8.5, made no difference. I’m at a loss.

In some cases the standard client does not pick up the archive policy correctly. Depends on server, client and template version.

Does the archive policy show up in the broken machine’s archive settings?

Also, check the $Policies view of the PNAB and see if there are any docs there. (Here’s a trick): If so, make a new copy, and replace the PNAB copy’s design with a Domino Directory, and look for settings documents. If they are there, drill into the archive settings and see if they are correct.
