Client Console Command Crashing Server (tell amgr quit)

We are currently upgrading our servers to 8.51. I am using Lotus Notes Admin client 8.5 and I myself cannot reproduce this problem. However I have a few developers that are still using 6.5.5 clients and this is where the problem lies.

When they connect to one of the 8.5 servers using thier admin client console and issue the command “tell amgr quit”, the server crashes. Strange thing is when viewing the logs their command does not register on the server as “tell amgr quit” it comes out as “show config ports” and crashes the server.

Example:

08/09/2010 02:57:42 PM Remote console command issued by adminformydomain: show tasks debug

show config ports

PORTS=TCPIP, LAN0tcpip

 Task

0B0C:0006 Database Server Perform console commands

0B0C:007 Database Server Listen for connect request on TCPIP

This goes on through the entire list of tasks, then crashes.

I’ve seen the other folks screens as they issue the command, they are sending “tell amgr quit”.

I’m inclined to think this is due to their version of the client, but wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this.

Thanks,

Colleen

Subject: R6 is no longer in support.

So I think if the issue is due to that, then they need to upgrade their admin client. As development won’t look into it.

The fatal stack in the NSD will give you more details. (it is in the IBM_TECHNICAL_SUPPORT folder).
