Clicking "Reply" takes 20-30 seconds the first time

Several users on different machines and images are saying that when they click on “Reply” to the first e-mail of the day, it can take up to a minute before they can start typing. I’ve seen this behavior on my own machine, but I see only 10-20 seconds (I suspect users are exaggerating).

The behavior is very easy to reproduce. I just restart my machine, load notes, open any e-mail, and click reply. The first time, Notes will freeze for about 10-20 seconds before unfreezing and allowing me to type. After this one time, “Reply” will function at normal speed.

Our servers are very slow. Would this affect anything? We’re just clicking “Reply” (NOT reply with history), I can’t imagine that would involve the server much. Thanks!

I can’t seem to find it but I’m pretty sure that I saw a tech note on this where there is a lookup or hide when formula that is executing in the reply that isn’t in the reply with history form. I will look around for it but I do believe that it is a problem with the design of the form. You didn’t mention what release of the template you are using. You might want to try as a test replacing the template with a newer one on just your own mail file and see if it makes a difference.
