After some trial and error we found an issue with the new 8.5.1 Standard Eclipse Notes client.
If you have issues with the Standard client like is is not starting properly (e.g. some hanging around notes2.exe process not doing anything) please check if you have a Java classpath environment variable set.
We saw Windows-XP users with the following classpath on their machines:
.;C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\lib\ext\QTJava.zip
Removing this classpath resolved the issue for us - the client started just fine.
Using the Basic client was always possible - even with this environment variable set.
I’m posting this here to share this knowledge in case someone runs into this…and in case there should be no IBM technote for this.
