Almost 3 weeks ago I started to have an issue when automatic archiving policy runs. I started to troubleshoot with IBM support for this problem but it seems that we are not getting to the root cause of the problem.
I decided to do a fresh installation of Domino 9.0.1 and add the server to my existing cluster of 3 servers then change the administration server to the new server instead of the old one with the problem and then decommission the old server.
The issue is that the old server is the home/mail server for most of the users on my directory, I want this to be user transparent.
I’ve found an article on that issue but it requires to user the designer and add a field to the desktop policy that contains the new server as the home/mail server but I don’t have any designer experience and I’m afraid that I mess things up.
Is there any way to change the home/mail server for all uses without using the designer ?
Please note that changing the home/mail server field in the person document doesn’t do the job and I have already tested it.
Thank you for your response, I have already tried it and I was redirected to the other server successfully, however, there are 2 things that I want to avoid.1- I received a message on Notes telling me that I will be redirected and I had to click OK.
2- After moving my mail file from the old server to another member in the cluster, I stopped receiving mails on my traveler client. I started to receive mails again as soon as I made a new replica on the old server.
I know that this can be solved but I just want to get over with the new server then be free to diagnose it.
Something is goign to need to change the location docs. The other choices are.
Just build a new server and bring it up as the same name as the old server
Add the new server as a cluster of the old server. Change the person docs to the new server and bring down the old server, The server will fail over to the other cluster. drawback is the location docs will always try the old server and then fail over.
