Changing form fieldnames by backend script?

Hi all,

i have a delicate problem here and thought that perhaps some cracks could help me out

I´m working in an environment where i have to add stuff to an established Application and therefore can´t change too much on the basics.

Now, someone thought it wise to brand every form with an version number by placing a field on that form with the name $Version_[VersionNumber].

Perhaps u can imagine that versioning a application with tons of form multiplcated by several similiar databases can drive u nuts.

My question is if someone could imagine a kind of API proggi that can change a fieldname on a given form ?

You can alter design elements through script through the use of DXL… I think you can also use the C API too…

Not sure what’s exactly is happening, but if you just want to move the values to a new field then you won’t need to go through the trouble of DXL or C.
