Changing Domains

So far I have only found some documentation on migrating domains. I have a situation where I have 500 users that were using notes for email. This group has been sold and we are setting up new Domino servers (under new domains). I don’t have much access to the old domain.

I would like to know if a) can I use the old ID files under the new domain, if so what is the procedure to migrate them; b) what is the best way to allow them to use their old mail database?

Thanks in advance.

Yes they can use their old ID’s simply cross certify them with the new domain.

Do you want them to use their old mail files in the new domain?

If so simply FTP, or Replicate them to your new domain.

b) what is the best way to allow them to use their old mail database?

Four things

  1. Make sure the person document is set correctly for their mail file location

  2. Edit their Person Document usernames to have their old and new user names. Crucial for processing C&S and for mail routing mails sent to their old name.

  3. Change the Mail File Owner Name to their new name

  4. Resign the mail files witn the new designer ID.

Conrad, Thanks for the reply.

I know this may sound stupid but, do I register each user in the new domain (creating an ID file for each user) and then cross certify there old ID?
