Hi all,
I’m trying to change my data directory from the Notes File-Preferences menu, but it always reverts back to the default value. What is happening? (I’m not connected to a server)
Thanks!

Subject: Re; Changing Data Directory
I haven’t done this with any recent versions of Notes, but in the past the only place the data directory was defined was in the notes.ini file. I would try shutting down Notes, finding the notes.ini file (on my machine it’s in the same directory as notes.exe), and changing with a text editor any instances of the data directory. In my case, there are a couple of places where it is used.
Of course, make a backup copy first!
Hope this helps!
Subject: Nope but thanks !
Hi Mark,
Thanks for your attempt. I actually tried to change it in the notes.ini (which was located under \documents\AppData\Local.… THANKS Lotus!) but it also reverted. FYI, it has always been possible to change this in the Preferences dialogue.
Subject: maybe try the registry?
Mmmm. If there was a previous installation of a Notes client on that pc that was not removed completely from the registry… maybe search the registry for Notes/data and remove the the related entries? Hope that helps.
Subject: Thanks Liam: which one?
I tried that, but there are now so many registry entries that I’m not sure which one to look at… Can you help?
Thanks!
