I currently have a single Domino server running on a W2K platform.
I want to change the installation to be a partitioned install so that I can then add more than one server to the box.
Is this simply a case of installing and checking the partitioned installation option. Will this allow me to convert my existing install to a partitioned install.
What happens to the Notes.INI and the current data directory, should I rename \data\ to \server1\ so that the new partition can be installed to \server2\
Any other gotchas I should know about?
Thanks
Mike
Subject: Changing a server
There are going to be some gotcha’s.
First gotcha: I don’t think it will convert the existing partioned. The biggest gotcha I know: a partition server will use 1352 (notes port) to then direct to the specific partition server. All partition servers on that box can not all use the 1352 so what domino does is become like a proxy forward for the particular partition. [This is in the admin help file.]
I would recommend to just rename the data directory, install the partition server, then after the installation add the content from teh old server to the new partition server. Just be careful to not write over the notes.ini provided from teh partition server.
If you need more percise answers based on your configuration then feel free to email me (it is in my profile).
Hope that helps… Cheers
