Change mail.box

I had a servercrash and had to reinstall the server os and domino server. Now I have 4 old mail.box files.mail1 to mail4 with pending mail that I want to route corectly. Tried with shutting down smtp and router to move the mail.box on the server but they are locked. How to unlock them?

I don’t want to shutdown the server.

An alternative is to copy and paste but then I am as sender.

Subject: Could copy documents into the new mail.box database

You would need to shut the server down completely to replace the mail.box databases, but if you want to keep the server up, you could use the Notes client to open your old mail1.box, select all documents and paste them into any of the mail.box databases on the running server. You should check to be sure there isn’t a “paste” agent active in the mail.box database you’re pasting into, as that would replace the From field with your name which would surely confuse the recipients of the email.

Subject: Mike - Can you elaborate on the paste agent?

I’ve never heard of this before. Could you explain a little about how this works and why it would be there to begin with?

Subject: More info

I’m not sure exactly which version, but some time ago the mailbox.ntf template included a “Paste” agent that would modify the From field of any email pasted into the database. The intent was to try to try to avoid someone copying mail into mail.box with a spoofed source address. I probably didn’t need to mention it as it is unlikely you might have such an agent.

Subject: shutdown server

I solved it with shutdown the server, change the mail.box files and start the server again.
