I’d like to change the dominoserver on one on our Win2k3-Servers. I registered a new ServerID-File, copied it in the Dominodata and changed the notes.ini on the Server so that it now thinks that it’s the new Server.
This works fine, it even writes in the same Log as before, just under the new name (I didn’t expect that to happen).
a new installation of the Server was not a option…
Do you think that there will be some problems in the future? It’s a productive environment…

From previous experience, the server should be OK with its new name, but you may find that many of the databases on the server will have the old server name in their Access Control Lists and/or titles, and should be corrected.
You should review the Domino directory for connections, configurations, programs, and internet sites/web SSOs that refer to the old server name.
Depending on your set up, the old server name might also show up in other server documents (eg. Server Tasks - Domain Catalog) .
