I have a user who requested that the size of the font in Lotus Notes be increased. Is there a way to increase the font size without decreasing the screen resolution? Changing the display settings for fonts in Windows did not seem to make any change to Lotus, and I cannot find an option in the GUI for selecting a font size.
Thanks!

Add a line to the notes.ini file with “X” being something like 2 or 3.
Display_Font_adjustment=X

I don’t think you can do this across the entire platform at once, since font size is controlled by design elements in each database.

I would go with what David recommended.
I coded this into 2 buttons in an e-mail which users can increase or decrease the Lotus notes font size.
Increase Font button:
Dim session As New NotesSession
Dim currentSettingString As String
Dim response As Integer
Dim dSetting As Double
currentSettingString$ = session.GetEnvironmentString( "Display_font_adjustment", True)
If CurrentSettingString = "" Then
response% = Messagebox ("Your Notes font size is currently set to the default. Would you like to set it to +1 ?"_
& " (This will make all your Notes text appear slightly larger than it is now)", 36, "Increase Font Size?")
If response% = 6 Then ' User clicked Yes
Call session.SetEnvironmentVar ("Display_font_adjustment", "1", True)
Messagebox "Your Notes font size has just been increased to +1. You will need to restart Notes before this change takes effect.", 64, "Restart Notes Client"
End If
Else
dSetting = Cdbl(CurrentSettingString)+ 1
response% = Messagebox ("Your Notes font size is currently set to: +" + CurrentSettingString +" . Would you like to set it to +" + Cstr(dSetting) + "?" & " (This will make all your Notes text appear slightly larger than it is now)", 36, "Increase Font Size?")
If response% = 6 Then ' User clicked Yes
Call session.SetEnvironmentVar ("Display_font_adjustment", Cstr(dSetting), True)
Messagebox "Your Notes font size has just been increased to +" + Cstr(dSetting) + ". You will need to restart Notes before this change takes effect.", 64, "Restart Notes Client"
End If
End If
Decrease Font button:
Dim session As New NotesSession
Dim currentSettingString As String
Dim response As Integer
Dim dSetting As Double
currentSettingString$ = session.GetEnvironmentString( "Display_font_adjustment", True)
If CurrentSettingString = "" Then
response% = Messagebox ("Your Notes font size is currently set to the default. No changes made." )
Exit Sub
Else
dSetting = Cdbl(CurrentSettingString) - 1
response% = Messagebox ("Your Notes font size is currently set to: +" + CurrentSettingString +" . Would you like to set it to +" + Cstr(dSetting) + "?" & " (This will make all your Notes text appear slightly smaller than it is now)", 36, "Decrease Font Size?")
If response% = 6 Then ' User clicked Yes
Call session.SetEnvironmentVar ("Display_font_adjustment", Cstr(dSetting), True)
Messagebox "Your Notes font size has just been decreased to +" + Cstr(dSetting) + ". You will need to restart Notes before this change takes effect.", 64, "Restart Notes Client"
End If
End If
Subject: This is awesome
I just searched the forum looking for this. and found what you had posted. Thanks a million. It saved me a lot of time.

Thanks for the code for the buttons. I’m sure this will be useful someday.
