Certifier ID problem

I have a fresh installed Domino server and Notes client, both on seperate machine.

The problem i face now is my user.id file is invalid.

Whenever i try to manage the certification tasks from Domino Administrator, i choose the file user.id coz that is the only file available for me to choose. when i click OK it pop up with this message: “The ID file is not a Certifier ID file and cannot be used to issue certificates”.

I havent done anything on the certification and i cant do anything about certificate until i resolve this problem.

can anyone tell me wht am i facing now?

thanks.

If this is a new Domino server, your first Domino server, in the \data folder of the server there should be cert.id. THAT is the ID file that you use for registering users and servers. You do NOT use your personal Notes ID, user.id.

I don’t know what your normal business practices are concerning ID files and security. But at the most basic level, you need access to that ID. Whether you put a share on the Domino server’s data folder, copy the ID to a secure network drive, or put it on your local workstation, that is up to your business controls. But you have to have access to the ID or you have to implement the CA process.
