Certificate expiration warning on stand-alone Client

I have a stand-alone installation of the 6.5.1 Notes Client–including Designer–on Win98 on my home machine. I have the Administrator Client, too, but no server installed. I connect to my ISP via dialup. I previously had the same setup in R5 and ND6 before I ran the 6.5 disk to upgrade last year.

For the past few weeks, when I first open Notes each day, I am told that I will need to recertify my ID by June because one or more of my certificates is going to expire. I’ve never had this warning before on my home machine. Can anybody explain how I would recertify my own ID on a machine that doesn’t actually have a server? I don’t know if it’s relevant or not, but my machine does not require authentication when I open Notes–there is no login prompt.

Thanks,

Carla

As best I remember, running through setup like a new installation will prompt you for creating an ID, etc. Try this: - backup

  • remove/hide/rename your ID file

  • strip your NOTES.INI except first three lines

  • start Notes

  • answer the questions as if you have no Notes infrastructure

Thanks again, Doug. That worked!
