I’m searching for some info on how I can modify display name of the emails file attachments.
I was able to plug some sample code to dump the info about CD_HOTSPOTBEGIN record, like Type, Flags, and I get the attachment filename.
Does anyone know how to get to it outside of NSFItemScan?
I’m usinig C API SDK of course, the code is triggered on EM_MAILSENDNOTE event
Thanks in Advance
Michael

You would need to identify the rich text items, then read each one using NSFItemInfo and NSFItemInfoNext, taking each buffer and using it to cycle through the CD records (composite data records). It is a pretty steep learning curve to work with CD records. Is it possible you would be interested in a third party product which would let you do this from C/C++, or is it important that you develop the code yourself? The reason I ask is that we have a Midas Rich Text C++ API which lets you quickly and easily modify things such as the attachment display name. We sell to both ISV’s who want to build our code into their solutions and to companies who have specialized needs they want to accomplish. The same functionality is also available from LotusScript if that would be easier still.

Thanks Ben. I’ve seen your website before and will take another look.
Basically what I need to do is to modify display name of the attachment file, say from “letter.doc” to “*letter.doc”. I need some weird character in front of display name to flag it to my code. Right now I have a bunch of STL containers in my code to handle that.
I register my handler to handle EM_MAILSENDNOTE event (BEFORE), but this event fires twice on some of the clients workstations. Trying to avoid processing the file attachments second time around.
I already use NSFItemInfo and NSFItemInfoNext elsewhere in my code.
Thanks,
Michael
