Can't set chrome as default browser in Mac 8.5.1

I’m running 8.5.1FP3 on Mac OS X 10.5.8. In Notes preferences I have it set to “use the browser I have set as default for this operating system”, which is Chrome, but whenever i click on a link inside of Notes, it loads FireFox.

Here’s the odd part. If I change my Mac’s default browser to Safari, and click on a link in Notes, Notes loads Safari. If I change it back to FireFox, and click on a link in Notes, Notes loads FireFox. But if I then set the default browser to Chrome, and click on a link in Notes, it loads FireFox.

Essentially Notes will load my previous default browser (FireFox or Safari) when I have Chrome set as the default browser and I click on a link in Notes.

I assume this is some sort of bug, is there a fix?

Same problem here with the latest Notes version.

Subject: Chrome is unable to set itself a system default browser

Notes is working as designed.

When set as default browser, Chrome only deals with user default browser settings and leaves system default browser untouched.

To solve it, go to Safari, set Chrome as your default browser. Even if it’s already set, click and choose it again from the application list.

Works for me! Hope it helps

Did anybody came up with a solution for this?

no response or fix yet - I just installed Fix Pack 5 for Notes 8.5.1 standard on Mac, and it still loads Firefox even though my default system browser is set to Chrome.
