The “Send Outgoing Internet Mail” always says:SMTP Protocal Returned a Permanent Error
Failed with smtp.xxx.com 15:41 Today
But it can work properly before.

You don’t give us many details. Is this an error on your SMTP server? Client? Web client? Connecting to a Domino server? ISP?
I’m guessing that you are using a Notes client to get to your ISP. I’m trying to remember … I think when I saw this, my Location doc had a different domain specified. My Location specified my job-domain when I was at home trying to connect to bellsouth.net. As such, Bellsouth refused to accept and send the message. In other words, it would not relay mail from another domain.

Since I post this topic under the Notes Client category, I meant this error occurs on my notes client. I have the location setting set to “send directly to internet”, without the participation of a domino server.
