Can't save signature

I am running v8.5.1 FP2 on a Windows 7 32-bit machine.

For a while I used a graphic for my email signature. I have decided to use plain text. I delete the graphic from the signature field and replace it with plain text, then save it.

The new signature works fine until I close, then re-open my mail file. Then the text signature is replaced by the previous graphic image.

I have tried rebooting the machine after changing the signature and refreshing the mail file design with no success.

Anyone have any suggestions?

What version of the Mail template are you using? (If possible, please post a snapshot of the 4th tab in File/Application/Properties infobox. It would also help to see a snapshot of the Signature tab in Preferences.

Thanks.

How do I post an image on this forum?

If you can’t create an attachment (not sure what options are available on the web), maybe post a picture on shutterfly?

I’ll see what I can do for getting an image available to you.

Subject: Try this INI

The following INI wil enable a full signature dialog allowing you to see the older signature options. It may be that an older option is incorrectly selected. Try selecting the option you want then saving preferences.

$SignatureOptionEnabled=“1”

If the above does not work you may have a problem with your calendar profile document (corruptions or duplicates). You may need to try the option below.

WARNING: This option will delete your calendar profile, as a result, all setting saved for mail and calendar preferences (from In-box - More/Preferences) will be lost!!!

Make sure all replica’s of your mail file are closed except one (this means shutdown all your Notes Clients except one). Also, if you are using a local replica of your mail file make sure you switch to a server replica.

Open your mail file on the one client and press this button => (You should get a message that your Calendar Profile was deleted. If you get multiple messages then that means you had duplicate Calendar profiles. If you get nothing or the message that it could not be removed then we need to do some further investigation).

Close your one open mail file and shutdown the Notes Client.

Restart the Notes Client and from your inbox do a More/Preferences and check your Mail and Calendar Preferences (all settings should now be reset to the default values).

Subject: Which button?

I like to use the described fix. However, I do not know on which button you are referencing here:

Open your mail file on the one client and press this button =>

What are you meaning with “=>”?

Thank you for feedback

Subject: Signature now in profile

As from Notes 8.5.1 the e-mail signature is stored in the calendar profile document in the mail-database itself. Changing the previous fields pointing to a html won’t work anymore.

Using the SignatureManager you can mailmerge with data from the server NAB and push Notes and iNotes signatures into users’ mail databases.

The SignatureManager is free and available at:

Good Evening,

I was wondering if you have tried Shutting down your Client, deleting your Cache.ndk, and then starting your Client and retesting.

Please let me know if this works or if the issue continues and I will reply with additional steps, if needed.

Have a nice weekend!

Regards,

-Bob

Subject: Same issue…

Few observations, as the user I worked on was remote. 8.5.1 on the server and client. We haven’t FP’d any clients that haven’t had issues and we’re running the 8.5.1 mail template (no FP on the server either)

First issue was that it would not save a NEW signature. The old one was “stuck” so to speak.

Reverted design back to R7 (mail) and found the preferences pointed to a non-existant HTML file for the sign. I switched that, replaced design back to 8.5.1 and then deleted the calendar profile via an agent.

Set the basics back up in the perefernces, happily verified that the signature file was now blank, no lingering old signature.

Went in and put her new signature in place (this is all from my client) and thought I was good. DIdn’t think to close out and go back in to make sure the issue did not follow me…

She obviously went in, probably assumed I never set the signature and experience the same issue with it wiping her clean every time she’d close the mail file.

Single server for this one, her local replic was removed and multiple clients. I’ve had 2 other admins verify on different clients that the issue existed for them as well.

Going to replace design again and try wiping the calendar profile while on R7, then set it there, then upgrade and see where it takes me, but this is a real annoyance. Suspect it has to be a self contained issue (no wiping cache files and the like to correct it…)
