I have a Domino server (V6) and somehow the server’s address book lost the Domain entry - nothing in domino directory\Configuration\Messaging\Domains. It now won’t route mail. Inbound comes in fine, but outgoing just sits in the mail.box.
I recreated a global domain entry, as below, but still nothing routes. It doesn’t even try. Am I missing something? Do I need some other entry as well?

Subject: Cant route outgoing mail
You may also need to create the following documents:* Foreign SMTP Domain
→ In the Routing section set the ‘Internet Domain’ to: .
→ In the Routing section set the ‘Domain Name’ to a virtual name (eg. InternetMailServer)
- Connection document to the virtual domain specified in the Foreign SMTP Domain document
→ Basics section…
→ Connection Type: ‘SMTP’
→ Source server: the name of your Domino server that routes mail to the Internet
→ Connect via: ‘Direct Connection’
→ Destination server: a virtual name (eg: all_internet_hosts)
→ Destination domain: same domain name as specified in the Foreign SMTP Domain document (eg: InternetMailServer)
→ Set other settings in the connection document as required
- Server - Configuration Document
→ Check at least one server configuration document has been created & configured.
See how that goes for you.

Subject: RE: Cant route outgoing mail
Thanks. I followed your guidance explicitly, but something is still amiss though. I still get no routing activity. I do get a message now that says
"Unable to replicate with server all_internet_hosts: Unab
le to find path to server"
which seems to indicate I might be close. Further thoughts?

Make sure the connection document which has the destination server of ‘all_internet_hosts’ is set to a connection type of ‘SMTP’.
The ‘Connect via’ setting should be set to ‘Direct connection’.
Also did you check to ensure destination domain is the same as that set in the Foreign SMTP Domain document?
The ‘Source Server’ field should be set to the name of the Domino server that connects directly to the internet and all other domino servers should be able to route to this server.
Make sure the replication task under the replication tab is set to disabled.
The ‘Routing Task’ field should be set to ‘Mail Routing’ and route at once if 1 message pending.
Also check the server document for the server to ensure ‘Mail Routing’ has been selected as a task (in the Basics section) and the ‘SMTP Listener Task’ is Enabled.

And if you put back a backup of your domino directory from a backup scedule before the problems were appearing?
