Can't replicate names.nsf locally

Hello,

We have a user who wants to be able to resolve email addresses of recipients when writing emails offline using a local copy of our main Domino Directory names.nsf address book. When trying trying to make a local replica, he gets the error ‘Database is currently in use by you or another user’. I have tried replicating myself as well as a few other people with the same error. Usually this is because the application is open in another tab, but the message still appears after closing all tabs and restarting the Notes 9.0.1 client.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Subject: Try renaming the file locally

The client already has a names.nsf - I assume you may also be getting a message re: overwriting an existing file?

When creating a local replica, try assigning the local replica a different name.

Having said that - look into Mobile Directory Catalogs - it will accomplish the same thing (assist with offline addressing), much smaller database than the names.nsf, and can be pushed out via Policy so the local replica i created automatically, and the notes.ini settings are upgraded automatically.

Subject: Worked

I forgot that the users address book is also a names.nsf. Strangely it wasn’t throwing a “overwriting existing file” which would have made it easier to diagnose. Thanks for the help, and for the tip about Mobile Directory Catalogs
