Hi. Can someone help me figure out why I can’t login.
I started a Domino server on my PC and loaded task HTTP.
I created a simple database on the server, with a simple form. I am the manager of the database. Default and Anonymous have No Access to the database. Max internet access is set to Editor.
I have an internet password and a shortname set in the server’s names.nsf.
I preview the form in the web and I’m asked to log in (first I have to change the URL to say “localhost” instead of my servername). I am entering the username and password correctly, however I cannot log in. It prompts me three times and then gives me Error 401.
What am I failing to consider? How come I can’t login?

Jeff,
First, I would set Anonymous access to Editor for a quick test to verify that you can hit the db properly. Once you can do that, then set it back to NoAccess and start troubleshooting your authorization problem.
Verify that your name is in the domino names.nsf and that it is unique. That is, if you enter “Jeff” then there is only one match. Or “JSchwarz”, whatever.
Verify that using your Notes Client your id can hit the db on the server. In other words, your id is allowed access to this server. If the server isn’t in your normal domain, and you’re cross-certified, then make sure that you use hierarchical names in the ACL.

Hi Raphael. Thanks for the help (I’m desperate to fix this so I can continue my work).
I changed Anonymous to Editor and I succesfully opened the form, so I can hit the database properly.
My name is the only name in the address book – it’s just a home server with just me in it, so everything is unique. I am the server admin (I think).
I can get to the application on the server using the client (in fact, I created it with the client).
I have no idea if I use heirarchical names or not.
What next steps please? Thanks again for helping out.
