Can't Find View - in Eclipse version

Intermittent to Always

This happens using the Eclipse version. Opening nlnotes.exe has not been affected.

I am periodically receiving the “Can’t Find View” pop up when I try to access my Notes 8.02 cal and contacts views. Usually closing down and then reopening fixes it. This morning on bringing up Notes my mail inbox suffered the same thing with an Anonymous title bar. The cal and contacts also did not show up. I have closed 2-3 times now and still no joy. Will “reinstall” to see if that fixes it. Anyone running up against this??

Subject: Fix until IBM finds a permanent solution

Had the same problem both on local replica and on server. Opening in “Old time Notes client” didnt’ work. Here is what i did to fix the problem:

Select your mailbox in workpace, Hold Ctrl+Shif down, Choose View\Goto and select InBox in the view dialog. and voila you have the inbox.

Subject: BOOKMARK.nsf Replacement

Replacing the bookmark.nsf file resolve this issue right away.

Subject: A permanent fix

The fix i posted yesterday worked only until you tried to open the mailbox from the desktop again.

I have just upgraded to Notes 8.5 from 8.2 where i allso had the problem. But the installation does not upgrade the mailbox to the new StdR85Mail template. By doing this the problem dissapeared. I must give IBM that they have fixed the problem

Subject: Having the same issue with 8.5

I’m on Notes 8.5. I upgraded my template from ISSI yesterday (now its Notes8V3). I can open my local mail by using the ctrl-shift View → GoTo inbox method. Where can I find the 8.5 template?

Subject: Same O problem

I have the same problem with the view. it works with the work around ctrl+shift …

I also installed from ISSI

I’m using:

IBM Lotus Notes 8.5

Release 8.5 HHF48

Revision ***************(Release 8.5 HF58)

Standard Configuration

Subject: Can’t find view problem SOLVED

I was able to solve this problem as follows:

Did a Replace Design of the my mail file in the GUI using the Domino Web Access (7) template. I then opened the mail file to make sure that it “took”.

Next, I used the CONVERT command on the mail file, specifying the mail8.ntf template. In the Domino Administrator, tell the server to:

load convert -u * mail8.ntf

Went back to the client and presto! the mailbox opened up normally, with the proper (R8) design.

Subject: This is how I fixed mine

From menu, open: File > Manage LocationsHighlight location that is having the problem

Click Edit > Administration Tab

Here the Owner and Administrators fields were blank.

After entering my name, closing out and reopening the application, everything was back to normal…

Subject: This is how I fixed mine

I tried the previous method (making myself administrator of the mailfile, but this did not resolve the issue).Another search suggested it was a corrupted bookmark.nsf file, I replaced my bookmark.nsf with a blank one.

If you don’t have a blank, deleting the old should allow a blank to be created from the template

Subject: I fixed my by removing bookmark.nsf on local client

I also had similar issue with one of the users and user was not able to open the calendar view. Giving same error “Anonymous:Cannot find view”

Just removing bookmark.nsf helped.

Thanks

Subject: Corrupted Mailbox Icon on Bookmark Bar

I had this issue of the mailbox opening with the “cannot find view …” error using Notes 8.0.2 HHF 2.0.6. I fixed it like this.

  1. Right click the mailbox icon on bookmark bar (open list) and click remove.

  2. Choose the mailbox icon on workspace, from menu bar click View - Goto - Inbox.

  3. Verify mailbox open with proper view.

  4. Right click the tab of mailbox window and click Create Bookmark, choose Bookmark Bar on the list of Add To.

Hope this works for you.

Subject: Corrupted Mailbox Icon on Bookmark

Great that worked for me. I suspect it may have been caused due to the user having his inbox set as his homepage - it appears to be a reoccuring problem for this user.

Subject: Can’t find view Anonymous

In my case the bookmark.nsf was “locked” for what ever reason by either Lotus or another application even after Notes was closed. After notes was closed, I then ran zapnotes which cleared the problem. Rebooting would have done the same thing. I no longer get the “can’t find view” under the anonymous context. Calendar, Todo and Mail all open fine now.

Download this application

http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/bpmpblog.nsf/dx/tool-to-manage-profiles?opendocument&comments#anc1

Open the app in designer and copy the form.

Open the mailbox in designer and paste in the form.

Select the mailbox on the workspace followed by Create | Other | Profile Document List

Select colorprofile, inotesprofile and, if present, inotesviewprofile and delete them.

Open the mailbox and hopefully you are in business.

Thanks to Andre Guirard for writing the app to access the profile documents!

Interesting that the database would open just fine on other workstations and that replacing the template and rebuilding the views would not fix the problem.

Subject: can’t find view in Eclipse version

Same problem running User Client 8.0.2 IFR1 with CCH2 applied.Opening Mail file on Server results in ‘Can’t find view’ pop up box and ‘anonymous’ displays at top of navigation pain. Opening Calendar or other views works fine. Mail file opens fine on other workstations and also opens fine in local replica. Others in the organization have had same problem which (so far) has required reinstalling the client.
