I have a new PC running Windows 7 (64 bit). I have installed Notes 8.5.1 and all was fine for about a week. I had opened some Java agents with no problems. Then today it just started throwing an error when I opened or created a new java agent. I uninstalled Notes and re-installed and still no good. This is the error that I get:
Error creating new project.
Cannot create linked resource ‘/.org.eclipse.jdt.core.external.folders/.link1’. The parent resource is not accessible.
My old PC running the same installation of Notes on Windows XP doesn’t have this problem.
Any ideas on how this could be solved???
Much appreciated
Craig
Subject: Re:Can’t edit/create Java agents in Designer
You can try cleaning the workspace. The simplest way to do that is to close all notes processes, rename the “workspace” folder under <notes\data> and then restarting the notes.
Subject: Fixed but with problems
That fixed the Java errors but I have now lost all my working sets.
I tried copying those files back in but the error comes back as soon as I get my working sets back again.
Come on Lotus how about an export and import feature for working sets like browsers have for bookmarks/favourites!!!
Subject: How move/backup working sets.
The working sets information is kept in a file called workingsets.xml in the following location in your Notes installation folder.
Notes\Data\workspace.metadata.plugins\org.eclipse.ui.workbench
Copy this file to the new Domino Designer client in the same location while Domino Designer is not running. When you next start up Domino Designer the working sets will be available and matching the previous client.
Subject: I backup my Notes workspace directory occasionally…
Hi Craig…
Though it hasn’t occurred recently, I’ve had to delete the workspace directory several times in the past because Notes wouldn’t start. I’m pretty sure I was using 8.5.0 the last time it happened, but am on 8.5.1 now.
Deleting that directory didn’t just remove Designer working sets, but also reset several Notes client preferences, so I’ve taken to making backup copies of the directory occasionally which I can revert to if the current one breaks.
