Can't Change Preview in Mail Database

On one of my Windows Vista systems, I have no option to enable side preview. The Show button in the upper right lacks the icon and nothing happens when clicking on it (no drop down options). Also, under View | Show, the only options are “Selected Only” and “Unread Only.”

The database is originally from Notes 7, but I performed a full Replace Design.

On a another replica of the same database on another system, the Show options appeared on and off, and I was able to switch it on that system, but now, there too, the Show options are no longer available and I can’t change it (fortunately, I don’t mind it being stuck in the Side Preview mode).

I don’t have this problem with other databases. It seems unique to this Design-replaced mail database.

What can I do to get this working?

Subject: Can’t Upgrade Folder Either

I can perform Upgrade Folder for some other Folders, but the Inbox is the problem, and it’s not possible to Upgrade that folder.

However, I see that this problem may be from customizations I made to the Inbox design back in R7 before I had replaced the design with R8.

Is there a way to force all folders, including Inbox, to adopt the design of the new template? If not, would it be possible to create a new mail database that would successfully receive mail and migrate my old mail and folders into it?
