Cannot Uninstall Notes 6

When trying to uninstall Notes 6.02CF2 (or upgrade), the following error occurs:----

Error 70.A Single User Notes Client Install has been detected. Multiple installs are not supported for this configuration.

Here’s the kicker. If you log into the OS with the original User account that Notes was installed with, it does uninstall properly.

  • Yes, Both accounts are part of the “Administrators” group.

This is not just one PC that is having this issue but every PC that was created with the same image.

Subject: Cannot Uninstall Notes 6

This is far too late to help any of the original posters, but;I encountered this same problem, and after failing to uninstall, I tried deleting the Notes directory and all relevant registry entries, and STILL the install failed with a request for the Lotus Notes 6.msi file. I contacted Notes Support, and a technical representative suggested I try Windows Installer Clean Up, a free tool from Microsoft. Once I deleted Notes 6 with this tool, my new installation was successful.

SPR # JMIL623K3Z (Uninstall fails on multi-user install when attempted by different user ) - Doesn’t say when it’s going to be fixed.

Subject: Single Client

My install is a Single Client install…and the error I receive reflects that.

Note that Notes is installed to c:\notes and the data to c:\notes\data.

I used installshield to create the install package.

Subject: RE: Single Client

I just called Lotus Support, and there is an SPR for the Single-Client issue too:ADEE5UWEPN

Of course there is no fix or workaround, which seems pretty sad to me.

So if you install it with one user, and the pc goes to someone else…you aren’t ever going to be able to uninstall it properly.

Subject: RE: Single Client

Anybody have anything new on this? We changed Windows domains here, with single user installs of the Notes client, and now no one can uninstall or even modify their client installation. Because of the domain change, the system thinks they are all new users. It appears that we’re going to have to format and rebuild the entire system, every system, to upgrade the Notes clients.

Not a pretty picture…

Thanks for any suggestions.
