Cannot print open document but printing from view is possible

In a database with template doclib some user cannot printing open documents (menu print is grey). Printing from the view is possible.The users have read access to the database

I wonder if Prevent Copying is set on the documents they can’t print directly?

My understanding was, this would prevent, copying/forwarding & printing…

There is a special $ field, sorry can’t remember what it’s called ($Private?) that would indicate this.

Can they print the DOCUMENT from the view, or do you just mean they can print the view?

Thank all for your responses, but there is no field $KeepPrivate or the the special form property.If I mark a doument in the view, I can print this doument, but if I open the document the print menu is grey.

This makes it sound like there is a $KeepPrivate field on the form, but that it is Computed for Display, so that it cannot be found when looking at the document properties from a view.

I can’t think of anything else that would disable the primt menu, offhand.

In the database acl where “Repicate or copy documents” dissabled.

But I wonder, why I can print from the view and not from an open document.

It sounds like the documents are set to not copy or print. Open the form in Domino Designer, open the Form properties, go to security tab, look for “Disable printing/forwarding/copying to clipboard” option.

If you clear this option, already-existing documents will still be non-printable. There’s a $item that gets created in the document.

It’s possible this was done by putting the $Item as a field on the form rather than using the form option. Sorry, I don’t remember its name but you should be able to find it by looking at the document’s properties.
