Cannot launch any items from the Open List

I have two PCs that are running Notes Client 8.0.2 and Windows XP Pro SP2 that are having the same issue.

When they try to run anything from the Open List, they get the following error:

"Notes:///852574D30078F230/Contacts&Groups?OpenFrameset

Windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have appropriate permissions to access the item."

It does not matter what the item is under the Open List, or if it is docked or undocked.

The users have full administrative access to their PCs.

I have tried giving them complete ownership of all items in their Data folder.

If you try to launch an item straight from the Data folder - i.e. Open names.nsf using notes.exe, it opens fine.

I have uninstalled Notes, deleted the Notes folder, and then reinstalled and re-setup the user using nothing but the ID file. I even tried a new ID file.

It worked fine before.

I even took the time to install the Notes 8.0.2 client on another machine with the same build and set up the same user and it worked perfectly fine. Then I copied the entire Notes folder, renamed the Notes folder on the other machine with the problem to NotesOld, then pasted in the Notes from the other machine. I had the same problem.

I am pretty sure this is not a Notes but some kind of weird Windows permissions problem, but it only affects the Open List.

Any ideas? What does the Open List call that might cause it to have this problem?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Subject: Has anyone found an answer to this yet?

I have this on multiple machines…

Subject: Same Issue

I have the same issue on a user that has been upgraded from 8.0.2 to 8.5Not sure if related but their send to email function from IE & office has stopped working aswell, and Lotus notes cannot be chosen in IE - tools options - Programs tab.

Subject: Caused by Permissions on Notes folder?

I found that the permissions were corrupted on the notes\data folder, i forced ntfs permissions down the tree to all folders and files, then ran the install again this seemed to resolve the issue.

Subject: Same issue, but after migration to AD

We are having a similar issue, but here’s my findings:

Logging into the domain account gives a problem, but the local account does not.

Both accounts are Administrators, and the domain account profile was copied using Systemn Properties->User Profile Settings->Copy To.

The Home Page buttons work fine.

The open list buttons do not work if left-clicked, but if the user right clicks and selects a Replica, it opens fine.

We are at a loss here - anyone else have this issue?
