Cannot delete document as an author?

Users get the following error-message when trying to delete documents:You cannot update or delete the document since you ar not listed as an allowable author for this document.

In the ACL the users have author-access and delete document is selected.

Subject: Cannot delete document as an author?

Not listed in an Authors Fields?.

Reader Names fields determine who may read a document and Author Names fields determine who may edit a document. Both types of fields can contain combinations of individual user names, server names, group names, and access roles. Documents and forms may contain more than one of either kind of these two fields.

You can read a document if any of the following are true:

  1. The database is local to you (i.e. you are not accessing it via a Notes Server).

  2. There is no Reader Access List for the document, and you have at least Reader Access to the database.

  3. There is a Reader Access List, but you are included in the form’s Reader Access List (Design>>Form Attributes>>Read Access), or in any of the Reader Names fields in the form, or in the document’s Reader Access List (Edit>>Security>>Read Access), or in any of the Author Names fields in the form. As stated above, you can be included as part of a group or role, in addition to having your name specifically written in.

You can edit a document if any of the following are true:

  1. You can read the document (see above) and you have at least Editor Access to the database.

  2. You have Author Access to the database and you are included in an Author Names field in the form / document.

Even though you changed the field on the form to a text field, the backend document still sees it as a an authors field.

You could either delete the field using something like:

FIELD AuthorField := @DeleteField

or you can write a lotuscript agent to change the type like:

Set TmpItem = Doc.GetFirstItem(“AuthorField”)

TmpItem.IsAuthors = False

TmpItem.IsReaders = False

Call Doc.Save(True, False)

I don´t understand !I have tried an agent with:

FIELD AuthorField := @DeleteField

And even this suggestion:

http://www-304.ibm.com/jct09002c/isv/tech/faq/individual?oid=2:23471

Without result!

The user cannot delete the documents.

The old field is still visible in the fieldselection in the view.

Is the possibility to get answers/comments less when the thread gets longer? It seems so if I look at my previous discussions…

To the problem here:

I created a new form with only one text-field in order to test if the user can delete documents created from this form.

To my surprise I get the same error-mess as before - cannot delete the doc … !

Might be a stupid question, but in the db ACl does this user have the option “Delete documents” checked ???

Do you have enabled the option “Allow document locking” on the database? It seems this option can prevent users from deleting documents when the option is not supported by the client software.

Does the form have an authors field or fields? These, and the allowable authors section on the form properties will restrict authors of documents in this situation.

Subject: RE: Cannot delete document as an author?

I had an authours-field. Now I have changed this field to a text-field but still the user

cannot delete documents they have created.
