Cannot convert Notes Rich Text message to MIME message

Hi,we upgraded a Domino Server from 7 to 8.5 on a Windows 2003 Server and now we´ve the problem that outgoing mails produce the error message “Cannot convert Notes Rich Text message to MIME message.”

We set the notes.ini parameter MailConvertMimeonTransfer=0 with no success.

The Format preference for incoming mail is “Keep in senders’ format”

Any suggestions??? Thanks for your help

I can´t find any infos about that errors.

Hi,

thanks for your reply. I can´t find any informations about the cvs310.res file.

So can i copy it from another domino server? Shutdown or restart the domino server?

Subject: Similar experience

Similar behaviour here…Migrated vom Domino 8.0.2 to 8.5.1 (on Win 2003 Server).

After migration updated all DBs to new ODS5.1 (nfixup, ncompact, nupdall etc.) But: I didn’t reboot the system.

Got some errors like:

CD to MIME error (Process: Router (xxxxx:yyyyy), Database: D:\Data\mail.box, Note: 003A3E56): CVS: InvalidHandle

Router: Error transferring message 002CEA57 via SMTP to … Cannot convert Notes Rich Text message to MIME message.

This convert-error message mostly was generated when sending e-mails containing embedded objects (pictures) but also when sending a meeting invitation to a customer (external e-mail).

Also only one of our employees wasn’t able to receive external SMTP-Mail, the originator got an error like “error delivering to…: invalid arguments”. The same when I tried to send him an e-mail from outside.

Internal Notesmail was no problem.

What we have done then:

Shut down Domino, replaced file cvs310.res with the same one of another 8.5.1-Server (both dated 29.09.2009) and deleted mail.box of the server.

Done all system updates and reboot of the machine.

Domino then worked fine. Don’t know what had caused the strange behaviour.

Thanks for the instructions! After upgrade from 8.0.2 to 8.5.1 FP3 we had this problem.

We did this:

  1. Replace cvs310.res (taken from another server)

  2. Rename mail1.box and mail2.box to mail1.box.old and mail2.box.old.

Server started up and new mail-boxes were created. We tested sending mail, everything works. Then we copy back messages from old mail-boxes to the newly created ones.
