Cancelling a hung mail-triggered agent

I have a lotusscript agent which has been locked up (“show tasks” lists the agent as running in an amgr thread) for more than a day. I am unable to cancel it so that it can execute normally again. It’s a mail-triggered (post-delivery) agent. “tell amgr cancel” returns the message “Agent ‘agentname alias’ in ‘db.nsf’ is not running.” – which makes perfect sense, as the cancel command is not supposed to work on mail-triggered agents. Quitting the amgr itself doesn’t work; the hung thread will not die – although loading amgr again successfully brings it back up again after its failed termination attempt.

This has happened with this agent once before, and the only solution I found was to restart the entire server. I am holding out a desperate hope that there is a way to avoid that.

Just a thought, how many namgr.exe are running in the task manager? - could you end the process via task manager / OS?

Probably only as a last resort prior to a reboot.

Don’t think I didn’t think of that, but (a) even if there is a way to tell Windows to end the offending process (can’t be done through normal techniques; processes running within a service are protected, I think because they’re running in executive mode), (b) I can easily believe that this might seriously interfere with the remainder of Domino; perhaps crashing it.
