I just heard the following from an associate. IBM told him that:
“Having a R8 Directory on a 6.5.4 server is not supported. Problems that can occur are corruption, data loss and performance issues.”
Has anyone seen this problem with 6.5.4?

In general, it is perfectly acceptable to run a mixed configuration of server and template releases. If this were not so, upgrading would be extremely difficult. Newer template features may not work if they rely on changes in the core code, but those should simply be ignored.
There are occasionally some edge case problems that are documented, but we will support customers with such problems as long as the respective releases (template and server) are still supported.
