Can you add a database to roaming after it's configured?

  1. A user wanted the 8 Notebook application after roaming was set up. Is there a way to enable roaming of that database without disabling roaming? We manually created it and replicated it to the roaming folder but it won’t add itself to the roaming files on the replication tab. 2. How can you add roaming cluster members after the fact?

Hi there

I think you’ll find that only certain databases and files are roamed by the roaming feature. You can however use policies to dictate whether a local replica of a database is on the user’s PC and then you can replicate that on a schedule for a similar effect. The replication settings should allow you to replicate on startup and shutdown, which effectively roams the database as it will ensure that it is up to date when they start and finish. The server location of the database shouldn’t really matter for this to work.

Subject: thanks. maybe I wasn’t clear…

The Journal (notebook.nsf in 8.5) are roaming databases by design. The question is, if someone is already roaming but doesn’t have a journal or notebook database, how can you add them as a roaming database?

Subject: same question on roaming

I have exactly the same question - any hints on that? Do I have to disable roaming first and enable it again oder is there another solution?
