Hi, I have no idea how fax server works with domino. Searching this forum, I came to know that we can inform users after receiving fax. But is it possible to fax Notes documents to some fax number?

Micheal,If you don’t mind…Can you please explain in detail how exactly it works? Right now, we don’t even have a Fax server.
why do we need ‘somename’ when sending a fax to some fax machine? Can we send fax to some fax number?
Also, how to send emails to outside the domino server…i.e. to internet emails like xyz@hotmail.com. Is it just by setting up the SMTP server details in Domino server?

Subject: We are using VSI-Fax and
from a Lotus Notes client, create a new memo and enter somename@faxnumberwithnospaces@Fax in the To field. This will send the fax to the number, anywhere.
The somename before the first @sign can be ANYTHING; it has no bearing on the remainder of the formula. You can replace somename with TEST, YES, NO, it will make no difference. The number after the first @ sign and the @Fax is what is important.
