Can user decide (select) server in a field-formula - @DbColumn

In a field I am doing a “lookup” with the following formula:

@IsDocBeingLoaded; @Unavailable; @Unique(@DbColumn

(“”:“NoCache”; " MyServer_1": " MyPath\MyDB.nsf "; “LookupView”; 1)))

The problem is that I have users on different servers and I would like the user or the administrator of the database to decide what server to do the lookup from.

Is the formula being run in a different database than the one being used for the lookup?

If it’s the same database, then just use “” for the database.

If on the same server but different database, use

@Subset(@Dbname;1)

If completely unrelated, then I’d say store the server in a profile document and retrive it via @GetProfileField.

ie.

Server := @GetProfileField(“(LkUpServer)”, “ServerName”);

@Unique(@DbColumn

(“”:“NoCache”; Server: "MyPath\MyDB.nsf "; “LookupView”; 1)))

Prompting the user everytime to select the server before performing the Lookup would quickly become a drag.

you can build your own list of servers and let them choose using @Prompt or if you want to open the db on the users home mail server you can use @LocationGetInfo([HOMESERVER]) to get the mail server from the location doc.

make the Server Name dynamicThis will get the server name that they user is currently on:

@subset(@dbname; 1)
