Hi,

As title, does it support PDA syn. with Calenadr or email?

If so, which software/plugin (or OS version) required in PDA/notes client?

I have been using Lotus Easy Sync Pro 4.2 for the over 2 yeas with great success. I have used it with the Palm m130 and now a Treo 600 on an XP and XP Pro machine. I am running the 6.5 client but use to use the 5.0.11 client. I can’t say much about the other products but I really like Easy Sync Pro 4.2

a.Easy Sync Pro 4.2 - Palm/Pocket PC (WinCE & Palm OS)

b.Intellisync - Mobile PDA (OS?)

d.How about in chinese version for all above?

4.In market, is PDA phone using OS other than Palm/Pocket PC (or also WinCE/Palm for mobile phone)?

  1. Yes, there are several wireless platforms: Palm, PocketPC, RIM (BlackBerry), Symbian, Danger (SideKick), and Linux. There are middleware solutions for most of these.

Some do email, some do apps, some do PIM (contacts, calendar, to dos etc.), some do all

Some browse, some synch

Some run on the workstation, and some run on the server

Most, but not all, involve middleware installation, and some involve client side handheld installation.

  1. There is no built in function that I am aware of, however, Easy Sync Pro is a Lotus Products itself.

  2. Not sure what you mean or are looking for here, but Easy Sync installs the Notes Connectors that are need to access the Domino DB, when you hot sync, it calls the notes connectors and then syncs the data.

  3. Easy Sync supports both Palm OS and Windows CE as for the others I am not sure, but most products do support both markets but you would need to check on each products and version. As for the Chinese version, I would have no clue about that, that is totally out of my realm.

  4. As far as I know, but I am not up to date on all the mobile technology, but you have palm os and windows ce, and I know some newer phones are RIM compatible but I dont so know about the OS. An to just throw something out there some phones/pdas also support bluetooth.

  2. In addition, if I just have 1 notes client without domino server installed. Can I hotsyn local calendar (or to do list/address book) to palm?

  1. I do not know if you can use active sync in XP, I never heard of it so do not know what it can do, but I highly doubt that you would be able to sync to notes with it.

  2. Yes you can sync to the client without a server using Easy Sync Pro, I am currently doing that now.

I think that you are trying to avoid buying anything but you will not have the notes connecters which is important. If you wanted you could just sync to the palm desktop and be done with it, otherwise you need to bite the bullet and buy a software package to sync to notes, after all you get what you pay for. And if you check out the link below you will see what versions and spefics it support, there maybe a later release if you look, but you will also see that it really isnt that much money.

Yes, right now, my situation is that:

We may have 2 PCs that would like to purchase & install notes client without purchasing Domino server which should install on another PC to act as an email server & centralized database (e.g. using group calendar).

Instead, the users will just use the calendar (and put it to network share) rather than email feature and will syn the data to palm/pocket pc/mobile with pda.

We are now investigating whether we should purchase in order to meet such purpose with minimium cost. Right now, my idea is:

  1. Buy 2 notes client (6.5.3)

  2. Whether to buy Easy Sync Pro (4.2?) in order to syn the calendar stuff to palm/pocket pc/mobile with pda?

BTW, what is notes connecters? Does it bundle with Lotus Notes Client?

I am confused as to what you are trying to do.

What is your goal? requirments?

Do you currently have Domino up and running?

Are you just looking to get multiple people to sync to one source?

Look at a piece of software called MNotes by commontime software - it will save you ALOT of headaches. We have about 10 users that sync their Palm Pilots to Notes, and this is the only program that has proven to be reliable. It will cost you about 75 dollars per user - per year, but it’s worth it.

Yes, the software is so expensive.

You mentioned this program has been proven to be reliable. Is it proven by Notes white paper or your experience? (or comment from your users?)

We have been using it here for about a year and a half with out any real problems.

For Commontime mNotes, it’s about 75$ per user, with first year maintenance/support included. But the renewal is only quarter that price, which gives you access to support and software upgrade ! Moreover : there is NO server licence ! You pay only for your user seats, and they can have more than one device if they like :wink:

It works with the same piece of software for either Desktop replication or server replication. A true Notes replication down to your device.

mNotes 4.1 is compatible with LN 5,6,7 and shipped now for Windows Mobile 5 as well.

If you’re asking whether you can sync a PDA with your Lotus Notes calendar and mail, the answer is yes. Two products you can look at are:

Intellisync

and

Pylon Pro
