I try to compare two String values and by some reason it give me the wrong Answer.I do following.
If “ü”=“y” Then
Msgbox “Is Identical”
Else
Msgbox “Is not Identical”
End If
I get the answer that the strings er identical.
It make a problem for mee when I replace the Word “ü”(Latin small letter u with diaeresis) in a String-value with the function Replace.
result = Replace(“Jürgyn”, “ü”, “x”)
The result is Jxrgxn
All the y-char’s is also replaced
The Asc or char value is different for both Characteres
What is the problem how can I solve it.
Thanks in advance
Subject: Can not compare two String-value
Works for me. I use Notes 7.0.2 and default settings for International settings in Notes. You might have somewhere specified a wrong code page. In Notes I have “Western European and US (Windows)” and in Windows XP Regional Settings: “10000 (MAC - Roman)”.
Subject: RE: Can not compare two String-value
HiExactly the same except the notes-Client that is 7.0 and xp 5.1.
What about the replace, does it return the corrrect result.
Subject: RE: Can not compare two String-value
Yes, Replace works for me too, it doesn’t replace the y.
Subject: RE: Can not compare two String-value
I have tried it from a different Notes-client with exactly the same Result, any advise were to look.

Hello,
Try thecode snippets below on your machine… and let us know the result. also print the numbers with Asc(y), Asc(“ü”), Uni(y) and Uni(“ü”)
If Asc(“ü”)=Asc(“y”) Then
Msgbox “Is Identical”
Else
Msgbox “Is not Identical”
End If
If Uni(“ü”)=Uni(“y”) Then
Msgbox “Is Identical”
Else
Msgbox “Is not Identical”
End If
