To optimise my datbase performance, I plan to have my budget numbers in separate database, say budget.nsf. thus, when I have variance analysis database, called performance.nsf, I plan for it to lookup the budget number in budget.nsf, however, I was made that it only works if I put both database in server? is this true?

@dblookup works both on local and server. Just make sure you set the “server” argument to “” (blank).

After reading your first question and response, he answered you correctly. as to this question, yes notes can do a lookup from the server or local, while the db you are loading into is from the server or local.
However you did explain what you are trying to do.
